It’s for people of all backgrounds and is non-competitive, accessible and free to use. People use the Award to promote personal development, a sense of responsibility towards the natural world and to recognise the learning and achievements of people taking part in outdoor experiences.
Attending training is not a requirement to be able to run the John Muir Award but it is organised periodically at locations around the UK in addition to information and resources available online. Leader training is designed for staff, volunteers and leaders who are interested in delivering the John Muir Award or looking to refresh their practise. Content is aimed at those already working with groups or organisations, but will also be of interest to individuals. Ideally, those attending will have at least one year's experience of working with groups.
The cost is £160 for two days, including food & accommodation. Reduced rate places of £110 are available for those attending in an individual capacity and for charity representatives.
