Blood pressure monitors
Borrow a blood pressure monitor from your local library for free.
Hampshire residents can now borrow a blood pressure monitor from their local library alongside books and magazines. It’s a simple, no-cost way to stay informed about your health and gives you the opportunity to measure your blood pressure in the comfort of your own home.
With three devices available at each of Hampshire’s 40 library branches, checking your blood pressure couldn’t be easier.
Why check your blood pressure?
High blood pressure (or hypertension) affects more than one in four adults and often goes unnoticed, yet can lead to serious health issues such as strokes, heart attacks and kidney disease. By knowing your numbers, you can take the necessary steps to maintain or improve your health.
How it works
- Join your local library for free, either online or in branch.
- Borrow a monitor for up to 14 days at a time, available on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Follow the easy-to-understand instructions included with each device.
- Return the monitor when your loan period ends.
With each blood pressure monitor there is a handy user guide which explains how to use it, as well as how to understand the results.
Anyone who is concerned about their own or a loved one’s blood pressure should seek advice from a medical professional. For more information about blood pressure and hypertension visit the NHS website.
