canal and lock

Lock 1 is 200 metres from the junction with the River Wey. It was restored by the Inland Waterways Association (IWA) and is dedicated to Harley Watkins, the first chairman of the Guildford and Reading Branch. Near Lock 1 is the Woodham pump house which pumps used water back up the Woodham flight. It is named after the late Peter Redway, who master-minded the scheme.
