Survival Shelters
Communication – Resilience - Teamwork
During this 1-hour session, children work in teams to build a shelter. Teams will need to consider how to plan, do and review throughout the activity. They will begin to develop some of the key skills for working in teams, these may include communication, encouragement, persevering and co-operation. Teachers will have an opportunity to test how waterproof these shelters are at the end of the session!
This session is best suited to the key stage 2 curriculum but can be adapted for key stage 1 learners.
Fire Lighting
Patience – Resilience - Knowledge
The aim of this session is to work as a group to safely start a fire. During this 1-hour session, children learn about the fire triangle, practise creating a spark using a flint and steel, and work as a group to create a small fire.
This session is best aligned with key stage 2 learners.
