Seashore Experience

Teamwork – Patience - Knowledge

During this whole morning or afternoon session, children will work in groups to create a rock pool, collecting live animals from within the intertidal zone e.g. anemones, periwinkles, mussels etc. Whilst the troughs are settling, there will be an opportunity to carry out two short activities. Teachers are asked to choose from: a sandcastle building competition, a fossil hunt, a scavenger hunt, creating a class rainbow or sculptures. At the end of the session, the children check their ‘rock pools’ to see what has moved around.

This session is best suited to the key stage 2 curriculum but can be adapted for key stage 1 learners.

Seashore Walk

Knowledge – Patience - Communication

This is a beach walk from Stubbington Study Centre to Titchfield Haven with various stops on the way for discussion. The aim is to gain an awareness and understanding of the geography of the local coastal area.

During this whole morning or afternoon session, children will take a walk from the centre, along the beach, stopping to discuss and share points of interest along the way.

We can work with teachers to tailor the stops to suit a particular focus. This session is most suitable for key stage 2 learners.
