Locality Study
Communication – Social - Knowledge
The aim of this whole morning/afternoon session is to gather information to compare Lee-on-the-Solent with an alternative settlement. This session will take the children on a walk off site to Lee-on-the-Solent, stopping along the way to identify key geographical features. Once in Lee-on-the-Solent, children will carry out a number of activities. Teachers are asked to select these in advance from a provided list, the centre staff will produce a booklet to include the selected activities for the children to use. The activities could include drawing maps, field sketches, undertaking questionnaires with members of the public, traffic surveys or buying ice creams!
This session is best aligned with the key stage 2 curriculum and could be followed up with a contrasting settlement back at school.
