Hampshire 2050 Partnership

26 November 2019

Partners attended the initial re-purposed Hampshire 2050 Partnership on 26 November 2019. The first meeting took the form of a workshop on climate change, identified as the main priority arising from the Commission and reinforced by the County Council’s declaration of a Climate Emergency.

The workshop was supported by two expert external presenters:

  • Dr Hugh Ellis, Policy Director at the Town and Country Planning Association strengthened the case for early and decisive action to reduce carbon emissions, illustrating that global temperatures were rising more quickly, and having greater than predicted impacts already, and
  • David Mason, Senior Sustainability Manager at Skanska spoke about the way in which a global construction company was trying to transition to a more carbon neutral approach both in day to day operations (e.g. moving their vehicle fleet to electric) and in the materials used for construction
