Tim Colman has – with the exception of a short spell living and working in in Switzerland – been a Hampshire resident for more than 45 years. Having studied electrical engineering at the University of Southampton Tim entered the corporate world – initially with Southampton based Pirelli General. In 1977 Tim joined part of the Chloride Group, travelling the world as part of the export department but operating out of the company HQ in Eastleigh.
In 1983 he moved to head up Omega Electronics UK – the sports timing technology company that was later integrated into the Swatch Group. Tim spent 20 years working for that organisation the last 8 years were spent at Director level in the Swatch Group UK still based in Hampshire.
In 2003 Tim decided to use the experience gained in the corporate world to set up his own businesses. He is currently the Managing Director of a business support consultancy specialising in the procurement process, and an HR outsourcing company concentrating on legislative compliance for SME’s.
He is also a Director of a leading motor sports company manufacturing racing cars.
Tim is very active in the Federation of Small Businesses and is the Policy Lead for the Wessex and Thames Valley areas and is also the FSB National Procurement Spokesman.
From 2011 until 2017 Tim represented the interests of small businesses on the Board of the Enterprise M3 LEP.
