Ordinary pension
Police Pension Scheme 1987 (PPS 1987)
You will be paid an ordinary pension if:
- you leave service age 50 or over with at least 25 years' pensionable service
- you leave service before age 50 and have at least 30 years' pensionable service
Example
If your final pay was £30,000 and you had:
- 20 years' service worth 20/60 of your final pay and
- 5 years' service worth 10/60 of your final pay
your pension would be 30/60 of your final pay:
(£30,000 × 30) ÷ 60 = £15,000 a year
The pensionable service would be scaled down to reflect any periods of part time service. The pension would be index linked from age 55.
