Bridgemary Library is being transformed into Hampshire’s first Green Library, creating a community space that champions sustainability.

Latest updates

The transformation to make Bridgemary Hampshire’s first green library continues. We are currently transforming our outside area to create a secret garden where our community can meet, learn, relax, and enjoy nature.

The contractors are working in the garden, which means there is no access to the outside space now. When they have finished the transformation we will have:

  • A sheltered, accessible seating area
  • Accessible and sensory paths
  • New planting
  • More spaces for wildlife to thrive in our garden

When the Green Library is complete, the staff and volunteers will help to deliver a series of events and activities which focus on environmental issues. The library staff will be given specialist training to ensure they can provide helpful information for the local community.

Investing in environmentally sustainable projects like the Bridgemary Green Library is part of the County Council’s wider commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
