The Summer Reading Challenge is back for 2026 with a musical theme of Read to the Beat! Running from Saturday 11 July to Saturday 12 September.
'The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge is Read to the Beat, delivered by The Reading Agency in partnership with public libraries and powered by Universal Music Group UK. The theme inspires children to explore the connection between stories and songs, discovering how reading and music both ignite imagination and creativity.
This year’s Challenge is brought to life with illustrations by award-winning author and illustrator, Harry Woodgate' - Summer Reading Challenge
Children aged 4 - 11 can take part, read or listen to 6 books, collect stickers along the way and receive a medal and certificate once finished. 'It's all about reading for fun, aiming to improve children's reading skills and confidence.'
