Teacher and SLT Support

« Back to School Toolkit

Gaining staff support to tackle smoking in school is important. It may be helpful to outline the various ways in which a reduction in smoking prevalence can benefit the school, e.g. less absence from students, better concentration in class and reduced litter on site. It is also helpful to directly address some of the concerns that other staff may have.

Having a lead teacher who takes responsibility for the smokefree agenda is very important. They need the time and support to carry out the role effectively, with the work identified clearly in their yearly objectives.
