The Chapel is one of just three historic sites in London and the South East selected for the Everyday History Heroes competition, a new national award celebrating the places that tell the stories of the ordinary people who helped shape Britain.
Launched by historian and broadcaster David Olusoga OBE, and presented by Heritage Open Days and Findmypast, the award recognises heritage sites that champion the lives and achievements of everyday people, from nurses and soldiers to teachers, workers and community changemakers.
The Royal Victoria Chapel was chosen by an expert judging panel in recognition of the incredible work undertaken to research, preserve and share the fascinating history of the former Royal Victoria Hospital and the people connected to it.
