Governance, information and public law
We advise Hampshire County Council and an ever increasing number of other public bodies across Hampshire and the surrounding region on a wide range of public law matters, such as corporate governance and constitutional issues, the holding of meetings and the operation of the decision-making process more generally.
Members of our Governance and Information Law Team, who work as part of the Council’s wider Governance Section, have years of experience of the legal and governance issues that need to be addressed in practice. This experience and the associated knowledge and understanding helps us to provide practical advice to our clients that helps them to fully understand the extent of their legal powers and statutory functions. We work closely with monitoring officers in the organisations that we advise, and by sharing our wealth of knowledge and expertise we support them to ensure that they can properly discharge their functions.
Having lawyers who specialise in the information management issues that arise in the public sector, as a result of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000, means that we can provide expert help and advice in dealing with the matters and related issues that come up on an ever more regular basis. We also provide training and guidance to clients to help ensure that they have appropriate and robust information management and data protection procedures in place.
