January 2026 - Progress Update

Jan 22 2026

Work on site continues to progress well. The next major phase involves transforming the large concrete ‘guide slab’ - the structure that supported the underpass as it was moved into position over Christmas - into the foundation for the new road.
Specialist demolition works are now underway. A robotic demolition machine is removing the thick, reinforced, back wall of the slab, while disc‑cutting and coring equipment is creating channels in the base, needed for future drainage.
Repurposing the existing slab not only makes efficient use of materials but also supports a more sustainable approach to construction, reducing waste and minimising the environmental impact of the project.

M27 Junction 10 roundabout - work to prepare the Junction 10 roundabout road surface is now underway following the successful completion of the underpass. The 8,500-tonne structure that forms the underpass was successfully slid into place using specialist equipment, which has now been removed, paving the way for the next phase of the project.

Broadway roundabout - the old road surface is being removed on the southbound side, and drainage work is continuing along the A32 Wickham Road.

Welborne Approach roundabout - topsoil is being added to the drainage areas (known as ‘swales’), and tactile paving is being installed at the crossing points.

Fareham Common - around 21,000 cubic metres of material from the box slide excavation has been placed on Fareham Common. This will be used to re-profile and landscape the area. Work on this element of the scheme will begin in spring, with further planting planned as part of Welborne Garden Village’s open space plans. While junction works and Fareham Common landscaping works continue over the coming months, there is no pedestrian link to Kiln Road. This link will open in autumn 2026, providing new pedestrian and cycle routes across Fareham Common to connect north Fareham with Welborne.

Making a Difference Locally
In December, the project team collected donations for Two Saints, as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local charities. Items gathered included toiletries, instant food, travel mugs, socks, and warm blankets to help people who are homeless or vulnerable.
