Welborne Approach roundabout update

Work is progressing well on the groundwork for the Welborne Approach roundabout link road and the eastbound off‑slip. Once complete, the link road will connect the new M27 Junction 10 roundabout with the new slip roads, forming a key part of the wider improvements in the area.

Major gas mains protection works

Major gas main pipes are located on the corner of a newly constructed section of the High Street Roundabout, at the point where it will eventually connect to the Broadway Roundabout. Work to protect the pipes needs to be completed before construction can continue safely on the remaining sections.

Two major gas mains run side by side in this area, with the new road set to be constructed directly above them. A series of protective measures are being installed, including concrete plinths and a protective slab over the pipes. The mains are also being surrounded by sand, which adds further stability and helps safeguard this critical piece of underground utility infrastructure.

Gantry sign installation
A new motorway gantry sign was successfully installed during overnight work on the M27 last month. To do this safely, the eastbound lanes were closed to give the team a clear working area while keeping the rest of the motorway open. A crane was used to lift the gantry into place before it was safely secured.

Helping local students discover STEM

Team members attended a two‑day STEM (Science Technology Engineering, and Mathematics) Fair at the Centre for Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training (CEMAST) in Fareham, joining 14 exhibitors and engaging with more than 200 pupils from seven local schools.
