The M27 Junction 10 improvement scheme will start to open to traffic in phases from 14 September 2026.
The first phase will see the new westbound off-slip road, motorway underpass and four new roundabouts brought into use. The new westbound off-slip road will provide access from the M27 westbound for traffic travelling from the Portsmouth direction to the new carriageway and underpass, and this will replace the existing junction 10 westbound off-slip loop. The new dual carriageway (to be known as the A32/A3222 link road) through the underpass will initially operate with a single lane in one direction (northbound), providing a new route for traffic travelling towards Fareham, Wickham and the surrounding local road network. This arrangement will allow the remaining works, including landscaping and footway completion, to be carried out safely.
For Dean Farm, access will be made available at Welborne Approach Roundabout for traffic travelling from the new westbound off-slip road, as well as for vehicles travelling from A32 Fareham and Wickham.
The new eastbound off-slip and westbound on-slip are expected to open in autumn 2026.
Temporary speed limits and lane restrictions will remain in place on the M27 between Junctions 9 and 11 while final safety checks, including technology testing, are completed. These restrictions are expected to remain in place until winter 2026.

The opening announcement was marked by representatives of the key organisations who have delivered and funded the scheme.

Ahead of the opening of the new motorway underpass, we're looking back at the remarkable engineering operation that saw it installed during the 2025 Christmas period using an innovative technique known as a box slide.
The operation involved moving a pre-constructed 60-metre-long concrete structure 65 metres into position beneath the motorway before the road surface was reinstated.
Work was completed ahead of programme, allowing the full M27 closure to be lifted a day earlier than planned and significantly reducing the need for prolonged traffic management during construction. Watch the short recap film.
